Home School Settlers Day

Our home school, AACA, had another special day that I like to call living History.  Luka and Grace have been learning about the Puritans, settlers and Indians so we decided it was a good time to have a settlers day.  It is perfect timing with Thanksgiving right around the corner.  We enjoyed dressing up, setting the stage, and learning more about the first settlers and the first Thanksgiving.  It was so much fun!  I love hearing my kids say they love home school because of special days like this.

The kids called us John Rolfe and Pocahontsa (who we had learned about).

We also read about the first Thanksgiving, did some coloring and puzzles, played Settlers of Catan, and watch a video about the Mayflower and life on the colony.

Our Indian friends danced for our celebration
Although our fun day is done, the tee pee still stands in the porch and settlers and Indians are fishing, sorting beans and having fun playing. :)
