Travels

Hi!  It has been a while since I have shared.  We have been on three different continents (maybe four?) in the last month and enjoying the journey God has us on.  Here is a small visual for you...
Flying from Soroti airport on Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF)

Luka had the best day ever being the co-pilot!  He wants to be a pilot right now so he was all into it.

We flew over our village and house!  So cool.  We waved to all our friends!
(See our house?!)

We were blessed with a family vacation on the Indian Ocean in Kenya.
We so enjoyed the rest and fun as a family in a beautiful place!

Snorkeling off the reef in low tide.

This tells you how hot it was.  The monkey sat in the sprinkler for about a half an hour!
The last few days we stayed at our own beach house.  It was a tropical paradise all to ourselves!  It was so very special to have family time in such peaceful, beautiful place.

Our own pool!  We enjoyed the warm water and even swam at night.
(Fun fact, the Indian Ocean is like bath water and when the tide is low the water is like a hot tube!)

We celebrated Josh's 41st birthday!
Fresh grilled fish!

Another snorkeling adventure from a local boat.

Drinking coconut milk.  By the way, yuck!
Exploring the tide pools.

Sea spider.

Other than sunburn, we had an awesome time and were very blessed!

Lots of hours flying.  From Kenya we were off to Qatar and on to England.

Traveling isn't always fun.  There were no rooms left at the hotel so we slept on the airport floor for the night.

We spent four days in England visiting the Freedom in Christ office there and touring around.
We spent one day in Windsor seeing the castle.  It was cold and a times wet!  Coming from Uganda we only had sweatshirts so we borrowed a few things from our FIC friends.

Changing of the guards.
The horses are not a normal part of the changing of the guards but they were practicing for Easter Court.
We were told that one of the men riding was Prince Andrew, the queens son, secretly riding.

The queens flag was up so we knew she was there somewhere.

Luka the IV

Queen Malai

The kids and I love seeing so much of the history that we have just learned about in history class.

St. Peter's Cathedral at Windsor castle.

Thames River

Another day we explored Oxford.

Old, old building everywhere and beautiful!

One of many churches we loved visiting.

1000 years of history!

See the family?

These are the Reading Abbey ruins.  The FIC office is in Reading.
It is intriguing to me seeing things from the 12th century.

Visiting the FIC office and the "queen"!

Our friends from the FIC office.  Rob and his family also lived in Uganda and now lead the FIC England office.

We walked around the Roman ruins together.
(A Roman village from the 2nd century in England!)
The Roman wall.

We loved our time in England and with friends!  It is fun seeing and learning about other cultures.  We love when friends can take us around and teach us - and we sure appreciated the help too!  One of the great things about being missionaries is being able to see new places in this big world as we travel.  What a blessing!

Then we finally arrived in Michigan.  And one day later on April 14 it snowed!
The kids were hoping for snow but I told them it was April and that if it snowed it would only be a dusting.  Well God proved me wrong and gave the kids enough snow to go sledding and make snowmen!  It was Sunday and no one in Michigan was happy about more snow in April, so we were blamed because we wanted it. :)

So, we have now been away from Obule for one month.  What a full month!  We have been in MI for almost three weeks and it has been busy.  We have spoke at three churches, continuing with our adoption process, visiting colleges, doctors, time with friends and family, had our missionary friends, the Dwires, come stay with us...and adjusting.  I will try to fill you in on things again soon.  (If I can find time.)  And I still hope to share about our goodbyes in Obule.  Thanks for all your prayers!
