23 February 2007

Another long night. Grace woke-up again for a few hours. She was quiet but tossed and turned. Our bed is now too small for a family of four. Then the power went out and it got so hot. I now dread the nights. Pray that the girls adjust and sleep better.

We had a good day today. We met Francis and Maggie and bought our fridge and oven. The fridge is bigger than our Mahula one but not as big as an American one. I am very happy with it. The oven is your basic SMALL oven.
The fridge cost about $550 and the oven $250. We are spending money like crazy this week! Josh entertained the girls by a little play land in the sun while we made our purchases. Angie and I also bought ceiling fans so hopefully they will work in Soroti.

In the afternoon Angie and I went out to shop (look at what is out there and what prices are). Josh stayed back with the kids to rest. We ended up looked at a lot of furniture – you know the road side furniture shops (just like Art Van). Angie and Tim ended up buying a beautiful, fun couch and chairs set with a coffee table. It is made out of a lite colored wood and
some kind of cane (corn stalks?) with black cushions. They get to pick it
up tomorrow. How fun, they will have something to sit on! We also saw some beautiful crafts that I loved. They have a lot of nice things here. I didn't buy anything but I can't wait to decorate my house.

We all went to supper at an Italian restaurant. It was outdoors and very good. We had been eating at the guest house but that isn't anything to brag about. We even got ice cream afterwards. Grace and Lydia fell asleep on the way home. They are tired. We all decided an 8 hour time change is a big change.
